Citizens Police Academy

Citizens Police Academy

The Westbrook Police Department sponsors a Citizens Police Academy.  It is a chance to learn more about what your local police department and your hometown officers do on a daily basis.

The Citizens Police Academy allows citizens to experience some of the highlights of police training and be exposed to the operation of the police department.  Some of the areas of instruction are: criminal and motor vehicle law, search and seizure, patrol and criminal investigation techniques, use of force, and community policing efforts.

All of the classes are taught by employees of the police department, and participants will have the opportunity to meet and talk with officers of the department.  Classes are held one night a week and are three hours long.  The Academy is a ten-week program.

The last Citizens Police Academy was held in March of 2018.  Please check back here for updates as to when the next one will be held.
