Frenchtown Community Policing Office
Program Details
The Frenchtown Community Policing Office is located at:
13 Reserve Street
Westbrook, ME 04092
It is staffed by our Community Policing Coordinator, Megan Perry, and is open Monday through Friday, typically between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. The Frenchtown neighborhood is the area encompassed by Bridge Street, Cumberland Street and the Presumpscot River, and includes streets such as Brown Street, Walker Street and North Street.
This is the first Westbrook community policing location, and it serves a neighborhood of approximately 1,800 residents. Community policing allows for direct neighborhood connections. The role of the Community Policing Office and the Community Policing Coordinator is to be an access point between the Police Department, community members, landlords, businesses and local agencies. This partnership helps to help mitigate civil concerns and support the growth of community initiatives and social programs. The office has successfully connected community members to local services, assisting with needs such as housing and food. The Community Policing Coordinator works closely with the Police Department to address any criminal and nuisance activities in the neighborhood. A weekly story hour is held at the Community Policing Office for young children. The Community Policing Office sponsors a neighborhood block party in the summer, and a 'Blizzard Bash' in the winter.
