Portland Paddle Launches Second Location on the Presumpscot River in Westbrook

PORTLAND, Maine (June 18, 2014) – Portland Paddle, a sea kayak and stand-up paddleboard (SUP) outfitter based at Portland's East End Beach, is partnering with the City of Westbrook to offer paddling opportunities on the Presumpscot River this summer. Starting on Saturday, June 21 at 11am, the company will rent out recreational and sit-on-top kayaks, as well as stand-up paddleboards, from Riverbank Park in downtown Westbrook. Paddlers can enjoy a beautiful stretch of the Presumpscot River between Saccarappa Falls and the historic Elms. The calm water of the Presumpscot makes it an ideal paddling location for all skill levels. It will also be possible to transport your rental boards and kayaks to Lincoln Street and enjoy the five mile splendor of the river from Westbrook to Windham.

Portland Paddle on the Presumpscot will be open from 11 am to 7 pm on Saturdays and Sundays and 12 pm to 7 pm on Wednesdays throughout the summer. On Wednesday evenings Riverbank Park will also play host to a variety of local musicians through Westbrook's Summer Concert Series, providing the opportunity to enjoy live music while exploring the river. https://www.westbrookcommunitycenter.org/info/activities/program_details.aspx?ProgramID=30032

On Saturday mornings Portland Paddle will share the park with the Westbrook-Gorham Chamber of Commerce, Maine Market, a weekly festival of local food, local crafts, music, street performances, family activities, and more. https://www.facebook.com/MaineMarket

About Portland Paddle

Portland Paddle offers sea kayak and stand-up paddleboard rentals, guided trips, and lessons at the East End Beach on Portland's waterfront and now on Westbrook’s Presumpscot River. The company's goal is to make it easy and affordable for Greater Westbrook residents and visitors to experience Casco Bay and the Presumpscot River. Portland Paddle emphasizes the “three S's”: safety, stewardship, and service. It upholds the highest safety standards, and aims to encourage stewardship of Maine rivers, the Maine coast, Casco Bay, and its islands. The business also focuses on service – customer service for tourists and locals alike, but also service in the sense of giving back to its community – Munjoy Hill, the East End, and Portland and the City of Westbrook. Portland Paddle strives to foster partnerships with local community groups and plans to host many community events throughout the summer.
