The City of Westbrook has an estimated 17,500 residents, and approximately 12,100 registered voters. The City is divided into five Wards, and has three voting places, as outlined below:

Election Dates 

The City of Westbrook currently holds two municipal elections every year -- the second Tuesday in June, and the first Tuesday following the first Monday of November. State elections are held on the first Tuesday following the first Monday of November, and on the second Tuesday in June in even-numbered years for Primary elections. Referenda and bond issues are sometimes sent to the voters in June or November. For more information on State elections, visit the Secretary of State's website


Register to Vote

In order to register to vote in the City of Westbrook, you must meet the following criteria:

  1. You must be a citizen of the United States.
  2. You must be 18 years of age. A 17 year-old may register to vote and is eligible to vote in a primary election or municipal caucus if the person will turn 18 years of age by the date of the next General Election. 
  3. You must be a resident of the City of Westbrook. 

You can register to vote in one of three ways -- in person at City Hall, by mail or at the polls on election day. We will provide you with a voter registration card to complete. As part of the registration process, you will be required to provide proof of identity (your Maine Driver's License number, State Identification number or the last four digits of your Social Security Number) and proof of residency (several items of proof are accepted, but the most commonly provided proof is your Maine Driver's License or State Identification Card).

Beginning on Thursday May 25, 2017, residents who wish to register to vote must appear in-person at the City Clerk's Office or must register for vote at his/her polling location on Election Day. No mailed-in applications will be accepted.
